Joyce Kendrick--Vocalist (Manager) Joyce has been singing her whole life. She started out in the church choir as a child and continued her musical career up through college. Joyce toured with the Eastern Arizona Repertory Theater Company along the West Coast during college performing in various musicals. She returned to sing Rhythm and Blues with the band, New Life Soul, for several years. After performing together in the band, New Life Soul, she and her husband,Darryl Kendrick, decided to form their own band-Sugar and Spice Soul Band.

Michael Carpenter-Tenor Saxophone Michael has been playing the saxophone for more than 25 years. He holds a degree in music from Berklee College of Music. He is a retired band director/teacher who worked as the Band Director at Westbury High School for over 20 years. Micheal is not only a skilled saxophone player but is proficient at many other instruments including the flute and trumpet. Micheal has an amazing ear for music and production. His musical prowess is an amazing asset to Sugar and Spice Soul Band. 

Darryl Kendrick-Alto Saxophone (Manager) Darryl has played the saxophone since he was 10 years old. He has performed in several bands including Love, Peace and Joy, Nemesis, and New Life Soul. Darryl really knows how to grab you with the rich tones he exudes from his saxophone.

Tyrone Morris- Trumpet/Flugelhorn. Tyrone is a student of famed trumpeter Jim Rotondi, Jazz Trumpet Professor at the University of Graz, Austria. He began his career over 30 years ago alongside trumpeter Ozzy Cardona. Tyrone is a versatile technician and proficient on many brass instruments. He credits his technique to the Caruso/Frink teaching methodologies. His musical influences are Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Miles Davis and Clark Terry.

"Roast Beef Joe" as he is affectionately known is an amazing edition to Sugar and Spice Soul Band. As our keyboard player, he brings a soulful sound that delights the ear. He has played with some heavy hitters such as the legendary Little Buster. He also brings to our band a wealth of musical experience that he freely shares. He has been playing in the Long Island music circuit for over 30 years and is loved by many for his soulful melodies.

 John Pinna has been performing in bands since 1982 and has performed all over the East Coast. He has plays a wide range of styles - everything from funk/disco to hard driving rock n roll. Some of his influences are Billy Sheehan, Michael Anthony, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, and Pat Badger. John plays a Billy Sheehan Attitude bass and uses Ampeg amplification. He also lends some great vocal blends to amp up our soulful sound.

Joey Donato-Guitar and Vocals-An ardent disciple of Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Les Paul, Joey began playing guitar by the age of 13. By 15, he was studying with Con Estone and later the legendary, late great Carmen Mastren. During his teenage years, he was playing clubs on the same bills as the Hassels, Billy Joel's group, The Young Rascals, and the Vagrants, Leslie West's group. It was in the presence of these groups that Joey found his style and timing. After a tour of military duty and before joining The Royal Teens, (Short Shorts), Joey resumed his playing experience by providing the guitar background for acts such as The Belmonts and later Gary US Bonds and the Paragons. Joey really has an ability to croon just using his guitar. He also has a sweet velvety voice that will surprise you. 

Tommy Rendano -Drums -Tommy sets the rhythm and pulse of Sugar and Spice Band with his skillful funky beats. He has played the drums for over 25 years. He holds a degree in Instrumental Performance and Music Education from Berklee College of Music and a degree in Music Education from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. For over five years, Tommy performed in Las Vegas showroom house orchestras at the MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, Aladdin & Tropicana Hotels. He played behind top showroom headliners including Gladys Knight, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., Lola Falana, Dionne Warwick, Wayne Newton, Glen Campbell, Doc Serinson, Paul Williams, Bernadette Peters and many others. He spent ten years in New York as a personal drummer for the Holidays and Cathy Jean and the Roomates. Serving as House drummer for the Cavalier Lounge he played for oldies groups the Angels & Lenny Welch.

Sheryl Myles-Background Vocalist-Sheryl has sung all her life. She is the choir director for her church choir and is very skilled at perfecting harmonies. Her phenomenal musical ear and smooth velvety tone truly brings something special to Sugar and Spice Band. 

Stephanie Gholson-Background Vocalist-Stephanie also has gained her singing experience while growing up in the church. She has an uncanny ability to master the various harmonies that the Motown genre requires.
